Welcome to the first edition of the AutoCine El Sur Mutxamel Film Festival, a unique open-air cinema event hosted at a historic drive-in theater that has been operating since 1980, located in Mutxamel (Alicante, Spain).

This event is organized and managed by the owners of the drive-in theater themselves, ensuring a professional, high-quality experience. With over 4,500 films screened and more than 2.3 million viewers over 45 years, we are committed to creating a truly memorable event for both filmmakers and audiences.

Our festival has an open theme, embracing both independent cinema and commercial films, with the goal of showcasing a wide range of creative voices from around the world.

Selected films will be screened on May 15, 2026, in a nostalgic drive-in setting, where the audience can enjoy your work from the comfort of their cars, with food and drinks delivered directly to their vehicle.

All projects entered into the festival will receive free promotion on our Instagram account, helping to boost visibility and audience reach.

We believe festivals should provide more value to filmmakers and screenwriters, and this is our way of supporting you and thanking you for your hard work.

What can you expect as a participating filmmaker?

🎟️ Official Reception: Starting at 8:00 PM, we'll welcome all selected filmmakers and teams with accreditations, a welcome, and a networking opportunity.

🎬 Double Screening Session: Starting at 9:00 PM, your work will be projected on a giant screen in front of a real audience in a retro and familiar setting. The sound will be broadcast via FM, directly to the vehicles, while viewers enjoy food and drinks served on-site from the comfort of their cars.

🎤 Q&A (Questions and Answers): After each screening session, directors and teams will participate in a brief discussion with the audience, sharing details about the creative process and connecting directly with the audience.

🏆 Audience Award: At the end of the event, attendees will vote for their favorite project. The film with the most votes will receive the Audience Award for Best Festival Project.

📱 Guaranteed Promotion: All selected projects will receive visibility on our social media (more than 25,000 followers on Facebook and 18,500 on Instagram), increasing the reach and exposure of your work.

Bienvenidos a la primera edición del AutoCine El Sur Mutxamel Film Festival, un evento único de cine al aire libre celebrado en un histórico autocine en funcionamiento desde 1980, ubicado en Mutxamel (Alicante, España).

Este evento es organizado y gestionado por los propios propietarios del autocine, lo que garantiza una experiencia profesional y de alta calidad. Con más de 4.500 películas proyectadas y más de 2,3 millones de espectadores a lo largo de 45 años, nuestro compromiso es crear un evento verdaderamente memorable tanto para cineastas como para el público.

Nuestro festival tiene una temática abierta, acogiendo tanto el cine independiente como el cine comercial, con el objetivo de mostrar una amplia gama de voces creativas de todo el mundo.

Las películas seleccionadas se proyectarán el 15 de mayo de 2026, en un entorno nostálgico de autocine, donde el público podrá disfrutar de tu obra desde la comodidad de su coche, con comida y bebida entregada directamente a su vehículo.

Todos los proyectos inscritos en el festival recibirán promoción gratuita en nuestra cuenta de Instagram, ayudando a aumentar su visibilidad y alcance.

AutoCine El Sur Mutxamel Film Festival
Terms & Rules
1. ACCEPTED CATEGORIES
• Short Films: duration between 0 and 30 minutes, including credits.
• Short Scripts: up to 30 pages.
• Feature Scripts: from 30 to 180 pages.

2. LANGUAGE & SUBTITLES
• Films and scripts in any language are accepted.
• If the film is not in Spanish or English, it must include subtitles in either Spanish or English.
• Scripts must be written in Spanish or English.

3. PRODUCTION DATE
• There are no restrictions on the year of production.
(For example, works from 2020 or earlier are eligible).

4. ONLINE PROJECTS
• Films that are already available online (YouTube, Vimeo, other platforms, etc.) are accepted.

5. RIGHTS & AUTHORSHIP
• The applicant must own all legal rights for the exhibition and use of the submitted material.
• The festival is not responsible for the unauthorized use of copyrighted material by the participant.

6. PROMOTION
• All selected projects will receive free promotion on the festival’s official Instagram account to help increase visibility.

7. SCREENINGS
• Selected short films will be screened on May 15, 2026, on the big screen at AutoCine El Sur in Mutxamel (Alicante, Spain), as part of the official public program.
• The screened categories will include:
Best Short Film, Best Documentary, Best Trailer, Best Independent Short Film, and Best Music Video.

8. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
• By submitting a film or script, the participant agrees to all rules and conditions stated above.
• The organization reserves the right to modify the schedule or conditions if necessary, always in the best interest of the event and its participants.
