By Storm, LLC was formed in 2023.

It was founded by screenwriters, festival directors and entrepreneurs who saw a need for a platform that services independent screenwriters.

The initial concept for the project began shortly after Coverfly, FilmFreeway, WeScreenplay, Tracking Board and various other screenwriting services were purchased for the second time in a year, this time by a payroll services company. We foresaw a future where these services merged or were lost altogether. By Storm was developed as a place to continue to serve independent screenwriters.

Our mission is to empower and uplift independent screenwriters.

What are our plans to accomplish this mission?

To begin, we need to rebuild the trust of the screenwriting community that was lost when these services suddenly closed.

No more empty promises. 

No more promises to industry access.

No more paying to meet ‘industry insiders’.

No more pay-to-pitch nonsense.

No more rankings without clear goals.

No more asking for permission.

No more gatekeepers.

By Storm is for those that just want their movie made. Making their movies - that’s how you empower screenwriters.

How is By Storm going to make this movie (or TV show)?

The script with the most Clout at the end of each year (for this first cycle, it will be the end of 2026) will be optioned for $10,000. The full details of the option are negotiable, but the $10,000 is guaranteed. The project will then be packaged by Formation Talent, who will bring in the actors, directors and talent to make the project marketable. They will then facilitate the acquisition of the remaining financing. Then, the project goes into production.

Our long term goal is to option multiple scripts a year, and for the platform to become a pipeline for independent production. All in service of the independent screenwriting community.

Who operates the platform?

We have a team of support staff, developers and designers.

Our current CEO, Darrell Holmes, was one of the founders of Barnstorm Media. Aside from sharing a similar style and a deep investment in the future of independent film, we are not affiliated with Barnstorm Media, outside of hosting their festival on our platform.

The original design of the site was conceived by Buildable Brand and the backend was developed by Studio Partners.
